Dear DDSC members,

The Data Science/Database Student Club is back for Fall 2026, and we'd love to see you at our Grand Opening event next week.

Grand Opening – Grow with AI
Tuesday, September 22, 2026
12:30 – 1:30 PM
Constant Hall, Room 1055

Lunch (Panda Express) will be provided, and every attendee will receive a welcome gift.

This year's theme is Grow with AI. At the opening we'll introduce our faculty advisors, Dr. Larisa Bulysheva and Dr. Weiyong Zhang, and this year's officers, share highlights from last year, and walk through the fall program of guest seminars, including:

- Friday, October 2: Dr. Hong Chen (Indiana University East, ODU Ph.D. '19) on Generative AI and Student Learning
- Late October: Dr. Yang (Jack) Lu (Beijing Technology and Business University, ODU Ph.D. '20) on AI and Your Life
- Early November: Dr. Mikhail Kataev (TUSUR, Russia) on computer vision and satellite data

The club is open to students from all majors and levels. No AI or programming experience is needed, so please feel free to bring a friend.
