Owens House, pays homage to the legacy of local civil rights icon and long-time supporter of Old Dominion University, Dr. Hugo A. Owens Sr. Owens House, located on 49th street near Powhatan Avenue, is the newest residence hall in the Runte Quad neighborhood, near the Webb Center, the P.O.D. market in Dominion House, and the Student Recreation Center.

At five stories and housing 470 students, it is ODU's second largest residential facility intentionally designed to foster partnership between residential living and academic success. Students living in Owens House are encouraged to engage, study, create, and grow into citizens that benefit the fabric of the Monarch Community.

Owens House features classrooms, project rooms, and study spaces that support academic initiatives and student engagement in course-specific studies. Owens House is also home to four Living-Learning Communities (Cybersecurity LLC, Engineering LLC, Entrepreneurship & Gaming LLC, and Health Professions LLC). Residents living in Owens House are required to be on a meal plan. Please visit Dining Services' website for an explanation of all meal plans.

Hello, Residents of Powhatan Village:

Welcome HOME! My name is Matt and I am the Residence Hall Director for Powhatan Village Apartments. To assist with operations of our community, Powhatan Village Apartments has two Assistant Hall Directors, Jackie and Derrick. Furthermore, the team consists of 18 resident assistants and 6 desk receptionists. The team in Powhatan Village Apartments is comprised of highly-motivated and dedicated professional and para-professional staff committed to assisting you in achieving personal, professional, and academic success. Please stop by to see us in the Powhatan Office!

As you take time to prepare for an exciting year at Old Dominion University (whether you are a first year or returning student) reflect on how you will contribute to making our apartment-style community an inclusive place where you will be comfortable finding your voice, forming new friendships, discovering opportunities for leadership, and engaging in meaningful conversations with those who are different from you. We are a richly diverse community of learners representing countries from all over the world, athletic programs, and research areas.

Upon your arrival to campus, you will notice facility and amenity enhancements around our community – Housing & Residence Life hopes that these enhancements aide in your comfort and success as a residential student. We, the members of the Residence Hall Association of Old Dominion University, strive to represent and give a voice to all students that reside in Old Dominion University's residential communities. We understand the need for an organization that can ensure student involvement in Old Dominion University Housing policy making, and do hereby establish such an organization that encourages student development through educational and social programming, provides a forum to share ideas and common concerns, establish an effective and representative advocate body of residence hall related issues, and bind ourselves to abide by the provisions of the following Constitution and Bylaws. We hereby establish, this constitution of the Residence Hall Association.

Membership Benefits
The purpose of the RHA is to be a visible and active organization that will enhance the university experience. RHA shall be a voice for and of the residents, serve as an advocate for positive and effective change within the residential campus community. RHA shall sponsor and lead open forums, supportive team-building programs, and promote participation in the greater community with enthusiasm and pride. RHA shall promote resident student leadership development by serving as a supportive Executive Board for each Residence Hall's Community Council (CC).
