Our October IDT GSO General Meeting featured an engaging workshop with Dr. Michelle Bartlett from ODU’s Community College Leadership Program, who introduced us to the fascinating world of Q methodology!
Dr. Bartlett walked us through how Q methodology helps researchers explore people's perspectives and better understand the different ways individuals think about a topic. She shared how this research approach can be applied across fields such as education, marketing, and psychology, making it a valuable tool for anyone interested in understanding human experiences and viewpoints.
Throughout the workshop, we explored the research process, from developing and organizing statements to selecting participants, conducting Q sorts, and analyzing data using CADE software. Dr. Bartlett also offered practical insights into designing research questions, determining sample sizes, and combining quantitative and qualitative data to uncover meaningful patterns.
The session sparked thoughtful questions and lively discussion, giving attendees an opportunity to explore how Q methodology might support their own research interests.
