Dear PHSA team,
Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out regarding my interest in student and community engagement, outreach, and possibly, fundraising. I want to volunteer my skills as a Certified Holistic Wellness Practitioner for the good of the PHSA and the ODU community. If my services can assist with fundraising, I am happy to do it. If my services can be utilized for student engagement and outreach, I am pleased to do that as well. I live in Salem, VA, and even though I cannot be in Norfolk, in person, I can offer virtual sessions. Virtual Yoga, Meditation, and Laughter Yoga sessions are beneficial for many scientifically backed reasons, including overall balance, connection, and creating peace throughout the community. I am a Public Health major because I am passionate about empowering and helping others overcome epidemics such as opioid dependence, along with other addictions, loneliness, and other genetic and chronic diseases through complementary therapies. There are supportive and interesting studies by the Institute of Noetic Sciences and Lynne McTaggart regarding energy medicine and the positive effects of focused intention and community meditation, respectively. Group meditation has the power to lower crime rates and uplift communities, which I find very fascinating. The studies show that a larger group meditation has further-reaching effects on the population. I hope my skills and passion can be an asset to this group and the university.
