The goals of the Old Dominion Rocketry Club are to provide a place to promote the safe and ethical building and launching of model and high power rockets. To provide club members a place to learn about model and high power rocketry and connect with other students of similar interest and promote and help getting members certified with the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and the Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA).
Membership in the Old Dominion University Rocketry Club provides a range of benefits to students, including: Hands-on experience: Members gain practical experience in designing, building, and launching rockets, providing valuable knowledge and skills that can be applied to future academic and professional pursuits. Networking: By participating in the club, members have the opportunity to connect with fellow students who share a passion for rocketry, as well as with faculty, alumni, and professionals in the aerospace industry. Skill development: Participation in the club helps members develop a range of skills, such as project management, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication, which are transferable to various academic and professional contexts. Leadership opportunities: Members can run for executive officer positions or lead project teams, allowing them to gain valuable leadership experience and enhance their resumes.
