Dean of Students Off-Campus Student Life

At Old Dominion University, we understand that your living environment plays an important role in your success as a student. The Off-Campus Student Life Office was created as an initiative by the Dean of Students to provide a centralized location for off-campus students to receive guidance, support, and resources for their off-campus experience.

In addition to providing resources to students, office staff also strive to work collaboratively with the neighborhoods surrounding Old Dominion University and the City of Norfolk on livability issues affecting students and long-term residents.

Off-Campus Housing

New to the Norfolk area? Moving from on-campus to off-campus?

ODU provides assistance to students seeking off-campus housing through an off-campus property listing page, where local landlords and property managers will post available housing, and through off-campus housing fairs, usually scheduled in the Spring semester.

Please note that the listing of off-campus residential properties is provided for informational purposes only and does not imply endorsement or recommendation of any off-campus residential property for security, safety, or suitability by the University. It is the responsibility of the prospective tenant to investigate security, safety and suitability of any off-campus residential property. ODU is not affiliated with any landlord that lists available property including ODUrent.

Student Employment Opportunities

Vivienne Budaza, executive director of Grandmothers Against Poverty and AIDS (GAPA), talks to residents at Norfolk’s Village Pointe Senior Apartments on 38th Street Friday morning. Budaza was one of five visitors from South Africa who were on campus last week for a book launch and photo exhibit highlighting the work of The Nevergiveups, a group of grandmothers within the GAPA organization. These women, who live outside Cape Town, provide economic, emotional and other support to women in their community who are faced with nursing sick children and raising grandchildren orphaned by the AIDS pandemic, while running an after-school education and nutrition program for 200 children who otherwise would be left unattended. Friday morning’s visit was coordinated by ODU’s Cecelia Tucker, assistant to the president for community relations. Photo by Chuck Thomas
