About Us

mpark, the makerpark, housed in the College of Arts and Letters in Batten Arts and Letters Building, on ODU’s main campus, is an inclusive public digital humanities critical makerspace. We nurture nonhierarchical collaborations across disciplines. Digital Humanities is a big-tent field meaning that we welcome practitioners from all the disciplines. A critical maker space is a physical space equipped with a range of digital and analog technologies that enable users to build, make, and innovate. We aim to provide users access to a unique makerpark composed of old and new technologies––from typewriters and sewing machines to 3D printers and laser cutters. We support the vision, creativity, and research of Arts & Letters students and faculty. We do so through in-person labs, online tutorials, and opportunities to use the space and its resources.
