Elections for BSA

Thank you to those who came forward to hold positions on the Board. Please Vote for each position on the Ballot. If there is an empty position you can self Nominate or nominate someone you believe is qualified. Those that are nominated will be asked if they would like to accept the position. Thank you for your participation.

PRESIDENT

IÔÇÖyana Hatcher: I was apart of the Top Teens of America prince williams county chapter which is an all black mentorship organization. During this time I participated in various volunteering opportunities and and learned mentorship from my mentor first hand. I also have leadership experience in 3 different sports.

Julatte Hillman : I was heavily involved in the Black Student Union during High School and was one of the first members on the Executive Board. I was the President of BSU last year as a senior, Vice President as a junior, and started off as Community Outreach Director as a sophomore. I was apart of BSU ever since it started and we were actually the first school to implement the club in the Hampton Roads area. I facilitated many events and our monthly meetings. One of our signature events were Trill Talks (a series of panel discussions where we discussed important topics pertaining to Black History and the Black Community). I also worked to start a Book club for us to read and discuss black literature. I also represented Virginia Beach as a whole in a panel discussions as well discussing the importance of the education of Black History. I know what it takes to run a club and be an advocate for the Black community within the school community. I was also an officer in the SCA last year and apart of a few other clubs throughout my whole High School experience. I am really looking forward to being apart of the Black Student Alliance here at ODU and want to help make this club active again, whether that be as President or a general member. This my first year at ODU; however, I am a Junior because I took a lot of Dual Enrollment courses during High School and graduated with my Associate's Degree as well in Business Administration. With that being said, I would like to maximize my time here at ODU and get involved as much as I can.

Vice President

Crystal Fowlkes - I am a dedicated African American student who is studying for their bachelors in biomedical studies, IÔÇÖve held a leadership roles before (captain of my high school tennis team) (Secretary of French club in high school) IÔÇÖm not working right now so IÔÇÖll have more time to dedicate to organizing Meetings and planning group events and experiences

MOBASED RABIU -I am an African American student at ODU majoring in Computer Engineering, Sophomore year. I currently work for the ODU IT department where I am exposed to the challenging situations that come with resolving tech issues on campus. I am a member of the National Society of Black engineers and soccer club. I would be dedicated to advancing the African American experience at ODU in any way possible.

Amya Marrow - Very organized, great communication skills , extremely attentive, and amazing interpersonal skills.

Social Media Chair

Marvelle Moyler: IÔÇÖve never been a social media chair before, but I am familiar with the major social media platforms and I know how to work them. I am willing to learn anything else needed for this position.
