About Us

The ODUs Society for the Advancement Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) Student Chapter is dedicated to advancing student knowledge and practical experience in advanced materials and manufacturing processes, with a focus on composite design and fabrication. We support ODU’s growing composites ecosystem by providing hands-on training, applied project experience, and collaborative technical support to student organizations. Through alignment with National SAMPE, we connect students to professional networks, competitions, and research opportunities in advanced manufacturing.

Members Benefits

Students who participate in SAMPE at ODU gain hands-on experience with composite manufacturing processes such as vacuum bagging, filament winding, and wet layup, along with mentorship in material selection, structural considerations, and manufacturing planning. Members also have opportunities to engage in undergraduate and graduate research, compete in national SAMPE competitions, connect with industry professionals through conferences and networking events, and develop leadership, project management, and technical communication skills that support long-term professional growth in advanced materials and manufacturing.
